June 12th,Things are starting to pick up after one of the best Mayfly in years. Sedges are now on the menu and proving to be very successful in early morning and late evenings. Ballycurrin and around Camilaun are very good. There is a great run of Salmon in the Lake. The pond Weed is becoming very established in a few Bays and the WRFB are very concerned. It looks like we are in for a very hot Summer from July on and this can only add to the Weed problem. June 15th,There were a few Salmon taken on the Glann Shore yesterday. The Trout were on the Caenis yesterday morning at the back of noones island. The high Bank in Galway was fishing well over the Weekend. There is a 10 Fish limit on Salmon this year again and Tagging is strictly enforced June 17th,The winds of change blew in last evening bringing a rapid drop in Air temp and much needed Rain. Unfortunately the conditions favoured the Fish and the Anglers stayed on Shore. Today look like more of the same and the Big Bushy Flies will be on the front Line. Conditions for the Weekend will favour Dries and the Caenis deserves an early foray. It looks like being a great year for Salmon and last night's downpour can only add to the Run. June 18th,The winds of change have indeed visited our shores and the Fish are in retreat. The temp is set to rise on the Weekend and things will improve. There were reports of Buddy Holly having an impact this morning. It is still like a Spring Day and more akin to Black Pennel than Caenis time. June 22nd,Very quiet on the Lake over the Weekend but the Salmon Run is well on and there are fish being taken on the Glann Shore. Next Sunday is the Annual Inchagoill Day June 26th, Buddy Holly is working very well. Caenis is patchy this week. There is a terrific run of Salmon. The Mackerel are in Salthill. Inchagoill is on Sunday at 3.00pm and Galway play Sligo at 2.00pm |
